2021 Nissan Rogue Buyer’s Guide

The Rogue is Nissan’s best-selling vehicle, and it’s also one of the most popular small SUVs on the market. Discover the all-new 2021 Nissan Rogue below.

The Rogue has been a strong seller for Nissan since it arrived over a decade ago. Now in its third generation, the Rogue returns with a boxy yet assertive exterior design, with Nissan’s latest tech features to make your drive less stressful. As with other compact SUVs, the 2021 Nissan Rogue is offered in FWD and AWD configurations.

What’s New

The new 2021 Nissan Rogue rides on a new platform and has a more powerful engine that promises improved fuel economy.

Nissan’s latest version of ProPilot Assist with navigation data can automatically adjust cruise control speed based on changes in speed limits or to account for upcoming curves.

The 2021 Rogue will offer a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display with a 10.8-inch projection display, and a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Performance & Fuel Economy

Powering the 2021 Nissan Rogue is a 2.5-liter I-4 with 181 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 11 hp and 6 lb-ft respectively over the outgoing model. A CVT automatic remains the only transmission offered. Expect EPA-rated fuel economy to come in higher than the last-gen model, at 26-27/34-35/29-30 and 25-26/32-33/28-29 (the base S models earn the higher number in these ranges).

Safety

All 2021 Nissan Rogue variants get the automaker’s Safety Shield 360 suite, which bundles together forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, front and rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. ProPilot Assist, Nissan’s semi-autonomous driving aid that combines lane centering, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist, is available on all but the base S trim. In the SL and Platinum grades equipped with built-in navigation, ProPilot Assist uses map data to anticipate curves on the road and adjust cruise control speed accordingly.

Cargo Space & Interior Room

With all seats up, the 2021 Nissan Rogue has 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding down the second row increases capacity to 74.1 cubic feet. In comparison, the Honda CR-V has more space than the 2021 Rogue at 2.7- and 1.7 cubic feet with the seats up and down, respectively. The Rogue has 4.3 cubic feet more cargo capacity than the Toyota RAV4 with the second row folded; however, it falls short by 1.0 cubic foot against the Toyota with all seats in place.

Like the outgoing model, the 2021 Rogue retains the reconfigurable cargo area and the storage cubby underneath the cargo floor. Owners may also appreciate that the rear hatch opening is wider and more square than before.

Technology

The 2021 Rogue will offer the latest version of the NissanConnect interface in two versions. The standard model features an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A 9.0-inch touchscreen and built-in navigation are standard on the Platinum grade and optional on the SL via the SL Premium package. A 10-speaker Bose audio system is also available on the two highest variants. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a head-up display are offered only on the range-topping Platinum trim.
